Regional Transportation Authority
Support legislation to create regional authority to plan, develop, finance, build, and operate regionally significant transportation facilities – with the emphasis on transit so that Tampa Bay region can have a multi-modal transportation network.
Economic Development
1) Tool Kit for Economic Development:
Support Funding of Quick Action Closing Fund, $45 million; Qualified Target Industries (QTI), $24,687,500; Quick Response Training (QRT), $5,000,000; and the Road Fund, $10 million
Support Funding Appropriations for Innovation Cycle Funds for World Class Scholars, $20 million; Centers of Excellence, $40 million; and Innovation Incentive Fund, $100 million
2) Support passage of the Florida Capital Formation Act.
3) Support recurring Funding for EFI Operations – $12.5 million Recurring General Revenue
University of South Florida
1) Support $12 million in recurring funding for continued enhancement of advanced graduate studies.
2) Support $7 million to level the playing field in per-student medical school funding and additional facilities funding to keep USF’s medical school competitive with new or planned med schools at FSU, FIU, and UCF.
3) Support $69.49 million for capital project outlays, including utilities and infrastructure maintenance, visual and performing arts, Phase I campus at USF Lakeland, interdisciplinary science teaching & research facility, USF St. Petersburg science & technology general academic facility.
Electronic Health Information Exchange
Support the Agency for Health Care Administration’s recommendation to fund Regional Health Information Organization (RHIO) grants that benefit pilot projects such as the Tampa Bay’s RHIO in the amount of $7.7 million, recognizing that Governor Crist has included $3.8 million in the budget proposal submitted to the Legislature.
Housing Trust Funds – Scrap the Cap
Support passage of Legislation to repeal the legislative cap which limits the amount of new documentary stamp tax revenues for housing to $243 million per year beginning in Fiscal Year 2007-2008, and support state and local housing programs by appropriating 100% of the monies available in the State and Local Housing Trust Funds for housing.
